HERITAGE SCHOOL HOLDS INTER – SCHOOL MODEL UNITED NATIONS

The three day Heritage School Model United Nations commenced on 16th Nov with delightful opening ceremony attended by over 250 delegates and educators from J&K, Punjab and Chandigarh. Since the year 2014 Heritage School has been hosting MUN Conferences, but the USP of this event is that it has been conceived, planned and executed solely by the students of MUN club in school.
The programme started with the lighting of the lamp followed by welcome address in the honour of the Chief Guest Mr. Danesh Rana, IGP Armed Jammu. Mr. Rana an IPS officer 1996, batch, has held various assignments in J&K in different capacities. He is an extremely dedicated officer who has taken up the cudgels against drug abuse and other anti social issues.
A splendid cultural progrmme was put up by the students of Heritage to welcome the esteemed guests, delegates and educators. Heritageans lit up the evening by their exuberant dance and music performances. A short film based on previous MUN experiences and the agenda of the current MUN was also showcased.
The chief guest, in his address stressed on the need to prepare the next set of leaders of the country and complimented the efforts of the students and their mentors for putting up such an impressive show.
The conference was declared open by Secretary General Namit Mahajan of the host school with the resounding of the Hammer.
The three day conference from 16th to 18th Nov. will witness the simulation of six committees – UNSC, DISEC, UNHRC, Lok Sabha, ECOSOC and International Press. Delegates will be debating and brainstorming for solutions of global issues of human trafficking, rising extremism & radicalization, regulation of private military contractors, illicit financial flow etc.
